Student Transportation Inc. is a family business; the family of our 14,000 employees who work each and every day. Here at Student Transportation Inc., our employees do more than transport kids to school safely. They are active members in their local community and often join together for nationwide community outreach initiatives. Each month we will highlight one of our many employees who do caring and extraordinary things for their terminals, communities, and for one another.
Student Transportation, Inc. would like to recognize Catherine Brutzman, a bus driver with our STA location in Higganum, Connecticut, for this month’s Employee Spotlight. Cathy has spent more than 40 years in the school transportation industry, including a period as the Director of Transportation for her school district. As a driver with STA, she has a flawless driving record and perfect attendance. She is well known in the community and loves to tell stories about how she used to drive the parents of the students she drives today. Cathy lost her son in an accident 17 years ago, and since then has been raising her grandson on her own. She is involved with the Relay for Life each year, participating in rememberance of her husband and sister who each lost battles with cancer. She is also the penpal to a detainee whom she plans on helping readjust to the community and reunite with family members upon their release. “She is the perfect role model,” says Cathy Luisi, Terminal Manager of the Higganum location. “Cathy always walks in with a big smile and greets everyone. She is a mother hen to those in need.”
